Q: Approximately how many hours do teachers work a week?

A: Typically teachers from abroad work between 18-21hrs. per week.

Q: How old are the students?

A: They majority of them are between 5 and 14 years old.

Q: Do you have other branches?

A: No. We only have one school in Tainan.

Q: Do you offer 6 month contracts?

A: No. We only offer 1 year contracts.

Q: What type of health insurance will I have? How much will it cost?

A: Each month, $7US is deducted from your pay. A trip to the doctor will cost you about $3 - $4US for the visit and medication.

If you go to the dentist to get your teeth cleaned, it will cost you $3US for the visit and cleaning.

Q: How about taxes?

A: The tax rate will be between 10%-20% depending on your arrival date.

Q: What's Taiwan/Tainan like?

A: Buy the Lonely Planet Guide-Taiwan, it's the best book on the market. Tainan is the fourth largest city in Taiwan. There are approximately 700,000 people in the city. Q: What's the weather like?

A: It's very HOT and HUMID 9 months of the year. November- February can get pretty cold, 50°F or 10°C. Rainy months include; May, June, July, and August. Current conditions.

Q: What form of transportation will I be using?

A: A scooter/motorcycle when traveling around town. A dependable second hand scooter will cost around $10,000NT ($300US).

Q: How much for rent and utilities per month?

A: Rent for a studio apartment - approx. $7,000NT ($230US +$30 for utilities) and about $5,000NT if you live with a roommate.
